About
Li Jia, a native of Shanghai, China, began his amateur piano lessons at the age of 15, showing a talent for composition and writing hundreds of solo piano compositions, basically on his own. 2000, after graduating from Shanghai University with a degree in Sociology, he joined Hong Kong's Tom Lee Music as a marketing manager, successfully organizing the Shanghai concerts of the famous American rock band Mr. Big guitarist Paul Gilbert, as well as a number of domestic tours of heavyweight artists. 2002 entered the Shanghai Conservatory of Music as the first graduate student without a bachelor's degree, and received a Master's degree in Jazz Piano. In 2002, he was admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where he became the first graduate student without a Bachelor's degree in Music and received a Master's degree in Jazz Piano. He then continued his studies at St. Isabel's College in Manila and the St. Petersburg Conservatory of Music, earning a Master of Music in Classical Piano Performance and a Doctor of Philosophy. He is currently a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Arts, Professor of Piano at the Conservatory of Music of Shanxi Normal University, Professor of Piano at the Anton Rubinstein Conservatory of Music in Germany, an expert in the evaluation of music programs for the Ministry of Education's Degree and Postgraduate Education, and a signed artist for European record labels such as KNS Classical / Atlantis Classical.
Currently, Dr. Li leads his own jazz trio, European Jazz Sound, and is active as Artistic Director of the Atlantis Symphony Orchestra. He is also working on a new album of original fusion crossover music, and has completed a complete recording of Chopin's works with KNS Classical/Atlantis Classical.
In March 2025, he was invited to join the Singapore Asian Arts Society (Traditional Western Instruments).
Awards & Performances
The 9th Citta Di San Dona di Piave International Piano Competition in Italy, the 4th place and the 1st place of the St. Petersburg International Piano Competition. As a composer, his piano works combine elements of popular and classical music, emphasizing the beauty of nature and humanistic philosophy, and he has completed several symphonies. He holds several doctoral degrees in Arts Administration, Music Anthropology, English Literature, Applied Psychology, and Education, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Central Escola in Manila, focusing on the Philippine music education system.
He is also an internationally recognized scholar, serving as editor-in-chief and reviewer for more than 20 international music and art journals. He also serves as editor-in-chief and editorial board member of more than 20 international music and art journals, and as a reviewer for Elsevier's SCI / SSCI / AHCI / SCOPUS in the well-known music category. His 119 papers have been published in Asian-European Music Research Journal and other international professional art journals. He has presided over 6 national, provincial and ministerial research projects, and has been invited to publish 3 monographs in Shanghai Music Publishing House and China Youth Publishing House, and 8 solo albums of his own piano in cooperation with Atlantis Classical and other record companies in Switzerland. Dr. Li has also published 8 solo piano albums with Atlantis Classical and other record labels in Switzerland, and has served as a judge for several piano competitions and as a spokesperson for piano brands.
