Qi Jie's artistic practice in recent years has always centered on the study and practice of traditional music.
In 2023, her solo album “A Collection of Traditional Works for Silk-string Pipa” was published with the support of the Central Conservatory of Music's Outstanding Academic Achievements Program. This album is of high artistic and academic value: Qi Jie used the silk-string pipa to record traditional works of the Wang, Chongming and Pudong Schools, presenting the stylistic characteristics of each and demonstrating Qi Jie's profound knowledge of traditional music performance.
In 2024, Qi Jie's personal album “Jinghua on the Fingers - A Collection of Pipa Pieces in Jingyun” was again approved by the Central Conservatory of Music for the Outstanding Research Achievement Publication Project. The album integrates several excellent pipa works that reflect the characteristics of Beijing opera, Beijing drums, single-stringed pieces, Qing dynasty royal stringed music, and Beijing folk songs, explores the technical characteristics of pipa's playing of Beijing rhythms, and summarizes the rules of the application of pipa's techniques to the performance of regional music. It also stimulated the active participation of composers, and made useful attempts to promote the innovation of pipa music.
In addition, Qi Jie has held nearly 20 solo recitals in Xinghai Concert Hall, Harbin Concert Hall, Fujian Grand Theater, Datong Grand Theater, Xinghai Conservatory of Music Concert Hall, Shenzhen Art School Concert Hall, Hunan Normal University Concert Hall, Inner Mongolia Normal University Concert Hall, etc., including the “Finger on the Pipa” Pipa Peking Rhythm Concert Tour, which won the industry's high reputation. The concerts were highly praised by the industry and reported by Datong Daily, Evening News and Datong TV.
In 2018, Qi Jie published “Pipa New Thinking Examination Textbook 〈Squirrel Pipa Master〉”, which contains 52 pipa sketches, which are adapted from a large number of folk songs and children's songs selected for pipa children. It is rich in techniques and vivid in language, and is of high practical value for basic pipa teaching. This set of materials covers a wide range of musical themes, including folk songs, instrumental music, and creative songs, so that you can practice your skills while enriching your musical language and experiencing the diversity of musical cultures.
