About

Currently employed at the China Daily Visual Center Art Room, Shi Yu is the only art editor in their 90s. Graduated from Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, she has ten years of experience as an illustrator. She is mainly responsible for creating illustrations and cartoons for the Policy Review, International Edition, and Opinion Edition of the newspaper. As an illustrator for an international propaganda newspaper, she is dedicated to using illustrations to tell the unique story of Chinese culture to the world, making the news come alive.

In October 2024, she was invited to join the Asian Art Association Singapore (Illustration).

Artist Statement

My signature style features colorful vector illustrations, characterized by shifting lines, vibrant colors, sophisticated compositions, and rich textures. Given my focus on policy-related illustrations in my daily work, my style excels in visually conveying policies through illustrations. I enjoy creating illustrations in the aerospace field and continuously incorporate Chinese elements and clean lines into my work. I am constantly exploring and refining my skills in the field of illustration, steadily realizing my own value.
