About

Wu Chun-Yao was born in Xiguo Mountain, Kinmen. At the age of twelve, he moved to Taiwan. He graduated from the Department of Finance and Accounting at Sun Yat-sen University and obtained a master's degree in Chinese Literature from Soochow University. His work "The Century of Fire and Sorrow" depicts the century-long history of Kinmen and won the Golden Tripod Award for literary creation. His novel "The Lost God" describes the origin of the wind lion god and includes the short story "The Voice of the God", which was selected for the Nine Songs Publishing House's Annual Novel Award. In 2005 and 2012, he was awarded the May Fourth Literary Award twice. He served as the editor-in-chief of "Young Lion Literature". He has published more than ten works including "The Century of Fire and Sorrow", "The Lost God", and "Twins". His picture book "Three Tree Friends" won the Third National Publishing Award and was shortlisted for the top ten of the Hong Kong Feng Zikai Children's Book Award. In 2017, "100 Blows", with each chapter titled with a single character, represents his new exploration and attempt in prose writing. In 2019, he published "Chongqing Tides", documenting the changes of the book street in Chongqing, and was shortlisted for the Taiwan Literature Golden Classic Award. His works have been selected for annual collections of novels, essays, and new poems many times. In recent years, he has returned to poetry and published poetry collections such as "Silent as Frost" and "The Clock in the Water".

In April 2025, he was invited to join the Asian Art Association Singapore (Creative Writing).
