For me, Chinese ink painting, as an art form that captures emotion, has profoundly influenced my life. Each stroke of ink, seeping and blending, embodies a vibrant energy, akin to the cells in my body constantly renewing and expanding, fueling my growth. At the tender age of six, I embarked on a journey of studying traditional Chinese culture, delving into the realm of calligraphy. Through relentless practice and using the brush, I gradually fell in love with this medium, feeling as though the brush had become an part of myself. Subsequently, I embarked on painting with the brush, discovering the mesmerizing magic of ink, which captivated me to the point of perpetual fascination. With the guidance and support of my family and teachers, I was fortunate enough to gain admission to be a student of Central Academy of Fine Arts, where I studied my professional skills, laying a crucial foundation for my artistic journey.
Painting is not as elusive as it may initially appear. It serves as a vital outlet for me to express my emotions, experience life, and comprehend humanity. It is also a mirror through which the world can glimpse my inner self. Painters observe the objects of life, perceive their inherent emotions, and intertwine them with their own emotional experiences for expression—a process that is both direct and heartfelt. Art stems from life but transcends its boundaries. In my own paintings, many depict nature and individuals closest to my heart, as well as crowds and landscapes captured during my travels, such as the festivals and scenery of Guizhou. I aspire to present viewers with the life that I have experienced and felt, while also preserving it as a record of my life's journey, where emotions are nestled within scenarios, and scenes are intertwined with emotions, my joys, sorrows, triumphs, and challenges.
As Mr. Li Keran said, "Delve in with your utmost effort, and break out with your utmost courage." In my artistic studies, I adhere to the most traditional and comprehensive training, steadfastly following ancient methodologies, comprehensively learning and absorbing the rich knowledge of Chinese painting, including figure painting, flower-and-bird painting, landscape painting, calligraphy, seal carving, and beyond. While I may not yet be fully mature in my art, I firmly believe that the knowledge and skills acquired through these studies will propel my artistic path further, and the accumulations of today will pave the way for a more resplendent future.
