Artist Statement

Because of my parents, I learned erhu from a young age. As I grow older, my feelings for erhu have changed from being forced to learn to a deep love. Especially after visiting the United States on behalf of the school to exchange music and culture, I discovered the difficulty and importance of the inheritance of traditional Chinese music. Erhu and violin are string music, however, compared with violin, the situation of erhu teaching in China is that the training of basic skills lacks the uniformity of professional standards. And the erhu music has polarized. On the one hand, it is too old to attract young people today. On the other hand, the new music too emphasizes the professionalism of the performance technique, and lacks aesthetics and dissemination. These problems have caused a series of obstacles to the future dissemination and teaching of erhu. This is also the problem I hope to solve through the efforts of myself and more erhu art practitioners. Fundamentally spread the art of erhu farther, so that the world can hear the voice of erhu, the voice of China.
