Me and My Imaginary World
Miliati Komaladi, Singapore
With peaceful and hopeful acrylic background, the painting imagines a lady looking out from her window to see various outdoor activities which she might have missed so far yet she hopes to enjoy freely again one day. Two prominent activities painted here are drinking coffee with friends in a Café and cycling with families at a park Zooming into the ingenuity of the above activities, I portray a scene of outdoor café style with predominantly bright orange color envisaging the jovial chit-chatting mood among friends. The dried flowers and leaves along the nearby grassland add an evergreen innuendo. Juxtaposing it at the left side, I set ranges of flowers and trees reflecting the surrounding where people can cycle freely in the fresh outdoor environment. While the tree leaves are made of real dried leaves, its trunk is made of recycle material of the paper bag string, applied with acrylic heavy gel and color. To add a serene evening atmosphere while cycling in the park, I put the ornaments of wooden lamp post, wooden bicycle, and dry flowers on the top right of the painting. Mixing inventive splashes of acrylic gel and sets of real plant materials, I would like to show that imagination and reality might have overlapping beauty. We just need to capture and embrace it.
