Hong Jiale, deputy dean of the School of Music of Shanghai Normal University, divided music education into two, namely basic music education and elite music education. He said that music education has a significant effect on the overall quality of people, that is, the degree of civilization. Basic music education is a platform for cultivating elite music talents. Primary and secondary school music education is the tower bottom, social music education is the tower body, and the cultivation of elite music talents should be undertaken by professional music colleges.
Judging from the object of music education, a pattern for children, adolescents and the elderly has been initially formed. Each year, more than 10 elderly people and children take piano exams in Shanghai.
