ABOUT

Described by Jerome Lowenthal as ‘an outstanding pianist with extraordinary touching and imaginations’, Hong Kong pianist Alice Manshan has begun her piano studies when she was 4 years old. In her age of 9, she was the only one in Shenzhen who passed the Grade 10 (China Musicians Association) with Distinction. One year later, she worked with Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra in Shenzhen Grand Theater by playing Kabalevsky Piano Concerto.

Manshan studied with Professor Eleanor Wong for her Bachelor degree under a full scholarship by The Cecil Leong Scholarship at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. While in the academy, she won a number of scholarships, including Eleanor Wong Scholarship, Piano Staff Prize, Parsons Music Foundation Scholarship, and the 2018-2020 Pearl River Kayserburg Scholarship. She furthered her study with Professor Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy of Music in London under scholarship by Jennifer Sharp Award and graduated with Master of Arts and Professional Diploma.

She has been appointed as the first Kayserburg Asia Pacific Regional Young Artist in 2023. Recently she was invited as a piano expert judge for the Asian Finals of the Brahms International Music Competition.

She was invited to join the Asian Art Association Singapore (Music) in Dec 2023.

Performance

In 2009, she performed Kabalevsky's Piano Concerto No. 3 at the Shenzhen Grand Theater with conductor Lei Yu and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, which was reported by many media;
In 2010, she was invited to participate in the 13th WAVRE International Piano Festival in Belgium and received unanimous praise from experts;
In 2012, she was participated in the International Piano Competition Winners Report Concert held in the concert hall of Shenzhen Art School and received good response;
In 2013, she participated in the "Beautiful Sunday" charity performance at the Shenzhen Concert Hall and performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 with conductor Lei Yu and the Shenzhen Art School Orchestra;
In 2013, she participated in the Outstanding International Award-winning Student Concert of Shenzhen Art School at the Shenzhen Grand Theater;
In 2014, she was invited to participate in the "Beautiful Sunday" charity performance at the Shenzhen Concert Hall and played the Schumann Piano Quintet;
In 2014, she participated in the Colorado International Piano Master Class in the United States and was highly praised by Michael Chertock, Director of the Piano Department of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in the United States, and Professor Thomas Duis from Germany;
In 2015, she was invited to hold a concert at the Princess Galyani Vadhana Conservatory of Music in Thailand and performed Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3;
In 2017, she participated in the Beijing International Music Festival and performed the Beethoven Piano Trio at the Concert Hall of Renmin University of China;
In 2018, she was invited to participate in the four-handed piano performance at the Hong Kong Arts Festival;
In 2019, she was selected to perform at the Salzburg Mozarteum Summer Music Festival;
In 2020, a concert of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 will be held at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, with Colleen Li as the piano accompanist;
In 2022, she held a concert of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at the Duke Recital Hall in London, England;
In 2023, she cooperated with the academy band at the Royal Academy of Music Concert Hall in London, England, and participated as a piano soloist;
In 2023, she held a Brahms Piano Quartet concert at Duke Recital Hall in London, UK
In 2024, she was invited to participate in the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao New Year Concert in Nansha District, Guangzhou
