Wendy Zhao, 
Master of Music Education, Major in Piano, Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia. Founder of Aria Music Academy. Member of Musicians Society of Singapore, Singapore Music Teachers’ Association (SMTA), and Global International Musicians Association (GIMA).

Jury of Singapore International Piano Competition, Singapore International Piano Elite Invitation Competition, Korea-China International Music Competition, ZhongSin International Music Competition, and GOCCA Youth Pianist Competition, and more.

Singapore International Youth Piano Completion – Best Teaching Prize, ZhongSin International Music Competition – Best Teaching Prize, Singapore International Piano Elite Invitation Competition – Excellence Teacher Award, OCCA Youth Pianist Competition – Outstanding Teaching Award.

She was invited in Global Artist Committee of Asian Art Association in June 2021.

Music journey

Wendy Zhao started her musical training at the age of 5. She began studying with renowned Chinese-Canadian Pianist and educator Mr Liu Xiao Hua since 1998. After completing her piano studies with Mr Liu, Wendy Zhao continued her artistic development in 2003 in Russia. She attended the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia in Saint Petersburg, under the mentorship of Professor Alexander Dyachkov for her bachelor degree in 2008 and master degree in 2010. Whilst in Russia, Wendy Zhao continued her regular studies with Professor Datiana Dedik who is a famed pianist and educator from St. Petersburg Conservatory of Music, Russia. She accumulated a wealth of teaching and performance experience during this period of time.

Music journey

From 2005 to 2010, during her studies in Russia, Wendy Zhao had held solo piano concerts and frequently collaborated with various musicians to explore a wide range of chamber music, including eminent dramatic tenor, Mr Alexander Dedik from Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. She was invited as guest solo pianist to perform The Nutcracker suite in the St. Petersburg International Tchaikovsky’s 100th Birthday Concert.

Teaching experience and achievements

Upon her graduation in 2010, Wendy Zhao moved to Singapore. She started her new art journey since then and established her own studio - Aria Music Academy. She had held many solo recitals and students’ concerts in recent years. In January 2017, the diverse and eclectic concert was held at Singapore Esplanade. The perfect combination of music with piano solo, ensemble and chamber music was well received by audiences. She was hailed as a "music therapist" by the media, students and parents.

In July 2019, Wendy Zhao, as a guest performer, was invited to Seoul, South Korea to participate in the opening ceremony of the Korea-China International Music Competition.

In 2019, Wendy Zhao was invited to hold an open class of "ABRSM Grade 1-8 Piano Analysis" at Singapore Raffles Music College. The one-on-one analysis and demonstrations were praised by the students, their parents and audiences.

Wendy Zhao coached her students to attend ABRSM examination and most of her students passed with Distinction or Merit. Impressively, many of her students received full marks for music piece performance. Her professional understanding and analysis to the detail of the pieces was greatly acknowledged and recognised by the examiner.

Wendy Zhao has been devoted to researching academic theories, piano performance techniques and educational psychology for many years, and has cultivated a large number of music talents. The students have won numerous awards in international piano competitions.
