Xie Ziyang, born in Lengshuijiang, Hunan Province on 3 April 1978, studied at the Sculpture Department of the Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University from 1997 to 2001, and received his Bachelor's Degree. 2004, Xie Ziyang founded Shenzhen Ziyang Environmental Art Co., Ltd. and specialised in the design and creation of environmental art. In 2009, he joined the School of Fine Arts and Design of the Hunan Institute of Humanities and Science as a professional teacher.

Xie Ziyang's works have won many awards and have been collected; in 1998, his "Decorative Patterns" was collected as a basic teaching material of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts; in 1999, his work "Who am I? was compiled into the sculpture teaching series textbook "Sculpture Structure" (by Xu Zhenglong), which is a project of Beijing Higher Education Excellence Teaching Material; in 2013, his work "Mao Zedong" was awarded the "Second Prize" in Loudi City Art Exhibition; in November 2022, he was awarded the Honour Prize in the Seventh International Abstract Art Selection Competition of the International Online Art Gallery; in November 2022, he was awarded the Honour Prize in the Fifth ''''Abstract Art Selection Competition''. The Fifth ''Flower'' International Art Selection Competition was awarded the Honourable Mention. In addition, his works have been selected for major projects for many times, including his participation in the production of Tianjin's ''Century Pillar'' bas-relief project in 1997, and the production of the national key project ''Relief of the Chinese Millennium Altar'' in May 2000, among others.

He was invited to join the Asian Art Association Singapore (Sculpture & Crafts) in April 2024.

June 2009, the work "Scavenger" was selected as a finalist for the sculpture exhibition of the 11th National Art Exhibition.
