ABOUT

Takahiro Suganuma is a Tokyo based illustrator, Artist. He is self-taught in illustration and began working as a freelance illustrator in 2013. He expresses a quiet atmosphere with soft lines and calm color. His work has appeared on books, advertising, education, and publications including The World Today, the Royal College of Physicians and The Architectural Review. He illustrated his first picture book ‘When Grandma was a Child’ published by Iwasaki Shoten. This book illustrated landscape of 1960’s Japan.

He was invited in Global Artist Committee of Asian Art Association in March 2022. And in July, he became the first member of the Global Artist Committee (Illustration).

Artist Statement

I have been making illustrations as a job, but I have gradually come to want to make artwork for myself. I began to think that I wanted to create works of art based on my own mental landscapes and images.
