Organizer

In support of

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

Deadline

Nov 30, 2024

Remarks by Tan Hong Pin, Malaysian MP
Thousands of people are now displaced by war in Ukraine, Palestine and elsewhere; meanwhile, Malaysia, near Singapore, hosts 150,000 Rohingya refugees from Myanmar. Supporting refugees means opening doors to them, celebrating their strength and achievements, and reflecting on the challenges they face. While standing in solidarity with those forced to flee, we must also find solutions to their plight, including ending conflicts so they can safely return home, ensuring they have opportunities to thrive in welcoming communities, providing countries with the resources needed to accommodate and support refugees, and giving young refugees access to better educational opportunities.

The Asian Art Association Singapore is proud to announce the launch of the World Charity Painting Competition 2024. This year's theme is "Aiming Higher" aimed at helping young refugees gain better educational opportunities through the power of art. This competition is fully supported and collaborated with the UNHCR, providing a platform for young artists worldwide to showcase their talents and express their dreams, while raising funds and resources for refugee education. Participants will receive award certificates and a commemorative album featuring all entries.

The World Charity Painting Competition 2024 aims to guide global artists to express their understanding and vision of "Aiming Higher" through their artwork, inspiring more people to focus on refugee education issues. Through artistic creation, participants will showcase their hopes and dreams for the world, calling on society to pay attention to and support the educational rights of refugee children.

This competition has received active support from the UNHCR. As the leading agency for refugee protection and assistance worldwide, the UNHCR has long been committed to improving the living conditions of refugees, especially promoting the educational development of refugee children. This collaboration will further enhance public awareness of refugee education issues and, through the power of art, raise more resources to create a better learning environment for refugee children.
