ABOUT

Lisa Teo Cheng Yen is a lawyer-turned-artist based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She has been painting for the past 10 years and she now specialise in creating oil paintings of nature, particularly of the Sekinchan paddy fields. The paddy fields are a metaphor for the cycle of life where she explore various themes relating to Life and her journey. Her style is influenced by post-Impressionists and Cubists. She love merging Western art techniques with Eastern Feng Shui elements of abundance and growth in her paintings. She participated in four group art exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur since 2016. In September 2021, she held her first international solo exhibition in Gallery 1819, Singapore, of her second series of paddy field paintings.

She was invited in Global Artist Committee of Asian Art Association in Sep 2022.

Artist Statement

I accept commissions to create made-to-order paintings such as oil portraits and abstract paintings for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, moving into new homes and offices. Besides painting, I also enjoy teaching art especially to working and retired adults, guiding them to find and express their inner voice and creativity. When I am not painting or teaching, I enjoy spending time with my two teenage children and my dog Chewie, travelling, hiking, reading, energy healing, yoga, going to the gym, scuba diving and exploring the meaning of Life.
