Works

Aashish’s sculpture are a fascinating blend of his training in both sculpture and creativity. For Aashish, his sculptures are expressions of his thoughts and a journey to seek out and reach his inner soul. His constant quest for spirituality finds expressions in his work. For him, it is not only important to express the outer form but also to use it in relation with the spiritual vitality. Ashish’s ability to let his intuition guide him through the distance between the conception and realization without compromising the integrity of the original idea, can be seen in many of his works. Through his creative practice, he intends to bridge the relation in contemporary sculpture in which the peaceful essence of forms sits calmly in unison with the patterns and designs of a traditional bronze casting Art form

Aashish produces a rich visual with a compelling draw to reality. He says that the pieces are meant to explore “themes of hidden potentials, and the transcendence of our limiting view of a solid reality. He shows the positivity through forms and one is instantly drawn to the captivating displays, and then we quietly progress into a reflective mindfulness that travels beyond the surface of the bronze. Ashish’s current work, in his words is a “sincere attempt to reflect my interpretation of the socio-cultural ethos”, he’s surrounded by and gives a modern physical shape to it.

“Precise reasons seem to be necessary to express some issues at some particular moments. Such thoughts inspire me to make drawings and sculptures.”

“I work mainly with positive and negative space, meaning the vacant space in between, the void is as important as the physical mass itself. I make my drawings and sculptures with the idea of them being viewed and appreciated from different angles to understand this form. Different forms and expressions appeal to me - soft but precise curves, sharp edges, concave surfaces shifting to convex; the discovery and strength of an inner or negative space.”

Ashish also states that his drawings and sculptures are physical simulations of the Mobius strip, a three- dimensional form that has a continuous surface, with one connected edge running throughout the whole form.
