Alex Herrerias

Illustrator / Mexico

ABOUT

Alex Herrerías studied Illustration at UNAM’s Faculty of Arts and Design. Since 2005, he has been a professional and freelance illustrator, and his work has been published in Mexico, Spain, China, the United States, Canada, Ireland, Sweden, Lebanon, Peru, and Brazil.

He likes a lot to work with graphite, ink, and digital techniques. The stage he enjoys the most during his projects’ creative process is planning, because it allows him to experiment and generate new graphic solutions.

He is currently combining illustration with teaching: he is an academic at UNAM’s Faculty of Arts and Design, and a teacher on the digital learning platform Crehana.

He was invited in Global Artist Committee of Asian Art Association in August 2022.

Graphic Novel

Camino is his first graphic novel, and is the result of his constant search of new styles and characters, of new stories, and more narrative projects. But it is also the result of the Young Creators Program corresponding to the 2016-2017 issue, in the discipline of Visual Arts and the specialty of Graphic Narrative, and of the Promotion to Projects and Cultural Joint Investments Program 2018, both belonging to the National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA) and the Secretariat of Culture.

He's working on their last graphic novels with the support of the National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA) 2022.

In 2017, 2018, and 2019 he was honored with being part of three different editions of Spectrum: The best in Contemporary Fantastic Art, as well as of Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, which was carried out in the United Arab Emirates.
