HSIAU JUNGCHING

Painter / Taiwan

ABOUT

Born in Taiwan in 1954, Hsiau Jungching (Chinese Name:蕭榮慶) was engaged in ceramic art creation in the early years with fruitful results and had a certain influence on the island. In recent years, he has gradually shifted his interest and mentality to contemporary ink painting. In the creation, his soul is completely released. He conveys his intentions by pen and forgets both things. He enjoys the joy of creation and life in the "state without me".

The ancient Greek philosophers once said: "When the foot enters the water, the water is no longer the former water, how can there be eternal and stable things?" Hsiau Jungching used pure type, agile lines, freehand brushwork, and appropriate colors in pure In the simple and quiet, we have created a rich and varied world for us, and also passed on his own understanding of Chinese learning and traditional spirit.

He joined Global Artists Committee of Asian Art Association In 2020.

CRITICS

Take a look at Hsiau's paintings, map everything with the mind, abandon all the thoughts of the world, and move the pen freely, letting the lines move between black, white, imagination, and reality. They are specious, but they are just as appropriate, as if they were in a "selfless environment."

When "painting" is talking about "time", it is also talking about "space", because even if "painting" is "idealized" and "abstracted" to the point of "symbol", it still gives priority to the visual senses. The medium expresses its "referential" meaning; since it is a medium through visual senses, the existence of "symbols" and the various elements they carry, including "time", must be presented with the help of specific picture spaces. In other words, the "temporality" of painting and the "space" of painting are the relationship between "surface" and "li".
Xiao Rongqing's mastery of the contrast between black and white and the virtual and real, fully shows his decisiveness and self-confidence: with the most accurate eyesight, draw the purest shapes, the strongest lines, and the most effective pen and ink. The most appropriate location. For example, the light ink lines that the flying arrows pass through are pure, sharp, and subtle, creating a state of metaphysics like "metaphysical" or "Zen painting". ... He uses the ease of mind to deal with the structure of large paintings, to create space, to pay attention to pen and ink, and to maintain momentum. ... the mood is smooth and intoxicating, and the forms of "points", "lines" and "faces" are still clearly discernible, and the concept of "time" is never vague in the momentum of rolling energy.
