ABOUT

JEREH LEUNG's dance work is based on the constant evaluation and redefinition of the idea of subverting patriarchy. By blending different media (body, sculpture, and sound), he combined metaphors and surrealist strategies using iconic films to study the politics of authenticity in negotiating personal memory, interpretation, and social construction.

He has trained in SEAD (Salzburg, Austria) and NAFA (Singapore) and has worked with Singaporean artists Bani Haykal, Choy Ka Fai, Daniel Kok, Eng Kai Er, Loo Zihan, Looi Wan Ping, Tang Ling Nah, Ah Hock Collaborate with Peng Yu, DramaBox, Frontier Danceland, TheatreWorks and The Necessary Stage; internationally with Isabelle Schad (Germany), Xavier Le Roy (France / Germany), Alexandra Pirici (Romania), Oleg Soulimenko (Austria / Russia), Matej Kejzar (UK / Slovenia), Noa Zuk (Israel), Ole Khamchanla (France) and Wallie Wolfgruber (USA) have worked together.

He joined Global Artists Committee of Asian Art Association In 2020.

TEACHING

Jereh is the head of Singapore's local dance company Frontier Danceland's "PULSE Project." Under his guidance, many students chased their dance dreams, and one of them won the NAC Art Scholarship. As a member of the dance company, he also offers dance courses for dancers.

In addition, he was invited to be a guest lecturer at NAFA, teach intermediate modern dance, and a guest examiner, providing internship courses for NAFA dance teams. In 2013, he was appointed to prepare and audition for the Ministry of Education talent development program at the Lasalle Contemporary Dance Studio. He is also an associate professor of public dance courses offered by LaSalle. Nanyang Technological University's Contemporary Dance Club also regularly invites him to workshops and develop dance.
