statement

Strange images pop into my head unannounced and I do my best to record them accurately using the skills that I have acquired as a fully trained fine artist. My surrealist influences range from Max Ernst, through HR Giger to William Blake - but I try to make my work as unique as possible and cliche free. I hate to repeat myself, but do sometimes like to develop a theme.

In terms of artwork in general I love a wide range from Cezanne (the father of modern art through to William Gainsborough – who has been unfairly dismissed as a mere salon painter).
Having worked as a commercial artist I always have fondness for well drawn commercial graphics and cartoon artwork.

Drawing is very important to me and the joy of depicting something in an honestly and graphic way is something that I love to communicate.

My drawing

I am trying to share the sense of the strangeness and wonder that this world, and life in general, which inspires in me in order to entertain and refresh the spirit of anyone who can relate my work.

I am expert in most media and work in whatever medium best suits the image – pen and ink, watercolour and body colour, acrylic, mixed media, pencil and pencil crayon.

However, I try not to paint as a human being, with failings and weaknesses.

Over the years I have had individual pieces exhibited but not a full body of work and am now aiming at disseminating my images in the most affordable way possible – I am want my work to be accessible to all, regardless of income.
