Kim Keehee graduated from Western Art Department of Hongik University in 1990. Kim KeeHee transcends questions and replies originated from life experience in a profound manner. Kim KeeHee has been manifesting her art world in a variety of spheres ranging from Western paintings to installation art and various musical stage costumes. Her work is the culmination of expression of all techniques which have been practiced in her art world so far.

Since her strong attachment to Vincent Van Gogh led her to deep affection for the subject matter “sunflowers” and served as the very starting point for her art world, she hopes to keep taking the path with consistency. The sunflowers reflecting the artist’s philosophy in some ways convey multifarious colors of her inner side and make her work shine with blue and azure hues.

Kim KeeHee intends to bring beauty of texture by adding diverse touches and techniques of brush based on impasto with thick layers and sfumato to her breath of soul and energy.

The vivacity perceived in the brush strokes arrives to communicate with the world and invite us to feel the breeze as if they were dancing.

Her work allows us to see passion of the inner side widely open to the world. In sum, the sunflower is a flower of aspiration for the sun. The wish of the sunflower can be sometimes the reflection of aspiration for the work and sometimes a song of liberty of reality. The aesthetic quest of the artist sings a song of a beautiful life through colors and forms.

What we see in the full canvas is the sunflower, which is the personification of the artist’s inner side in the sense that it gets back on its feet from the difficult reality and shines of its own way in silence yet with intensity. Her work holds seriousness of aesthetics of adversity as is the case of Chagall’s works. This will lead us to keep paying attention to the moves of her works, realizing freedom from colors and forms, which is considered characteristics of contemporary arts.
