ABOUT

Ma Jiajun (JJ Ma), famous erhu performer and musician in Shanghai, graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. For many years, has been active in all major stages as a Chinese transboundary erhu performer.

Over the years, he has applied himself to the innovation of erhu performance and composition, has rich experience in both erhu performance and innovative exploration.

In March 2023, he was invited to join the Asian Art Association Singapore and be judge of World Erhu Competition 2023.

Performance

In 2003, worked with American jazz pianist Bob James to release the jazz and Chinese folk music album "Angels of Shanghai", and participated in jazz festivals in China, the United States, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, Thailand and other places. In 2005, he was invited by Japanese singer Shinji Tanimura to perform at the Aichi World Expo in Japan. In 2006, participated in the concert of personal works of Japanese musician Akira Senju in Todaiji Temple, Japan. From 2013 to 2015, together with Australian pianist Michael Harvey, Shakuhachi performer Brian Ritchie and Chinese pipa player Xie Yudan, has released the chamber music album "Typhoon" and toured in China and Australia. All chamber composition is composed by Four Musicians. Since 2016, has cooperated with the famous online game companies Tencent and Hoyo-Mix to participate in the recording of the two games "Glory of the King" and "Genshin Impact". In 2022, was invited to Hoyo-Mix to cooperate with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in the Shanghai Symphony Concert Hall, and play erhu solo in the symphony concert of "Genshin-Reflection of Spring", which was popular around the world.
