ABOUT

Liang Yaru, deputy secretary general of Datong Musicians Association, chairperson of Datong Youth Guzheng Association, and an art grading examiner of China Conservatory of Music. Born in 1992 in Datong, she has loved music since childhood. At the age of six, she learned to play Guzheng and was taught by Prof. Yang Xi and Prof. Wang Xiaoyue.

She majored in Guzheng performance at Shenyang Conservatory of Music as an undergraduate and became a graduate student of Prof. Yang Nani, a Guzheng performer and educator, at Shenyang Conservatory of Music in 2015. She was a doctoral student of Prof. Wang Wei, a famous Guzheng performer, educator and doctoral supervisor, at Chugye University for the Arts in the Republic of Korea. In 2019, she founded Daya Zhengyuan Guzheng & Guqin School, where she has guided many students to get admitted to professional music schools and music departments of comprehensive universities.

In Jan 2023, she was invited to join the Global Artists Committee (music) of the Asian Art Association.

Performance

In December 2017, she performed at Shenyang New Year Concert.
During 2017-2018, she gave two solo recitals.
In August 2018, she gave a public lecture “Playing Guzheng” at Shenyang Chinese Music Hall.
In September 2018, she was chosen as a cover person by “Carvers News”.
In September 2018, she performed at the public show Mid-Autumn Festival Poetry Gala in Shenyang Ci’en Temple.
In November 2019, she gave a Guzheng concert titled “Tugging at Your Heartstrings” in Datong Library.
During 2019-2020, she gave a series of public lectures on traditional Chinese music.
In September 2020, she performed at the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Poetry Gala in Datong Ancient City.
During 2020-2022, she gave a number of personal teaching concerts.
In May 2021, she gave a solo recital in Datong.

Awards

Liang Yaru won a gold award at the 1st Liaoning Guzheng & Guqin Invitational Competition, a gold award at the 4th Beijing International Chinese Instrumental Music Competition, a silver award at the 2nd Liaoning Chinese Instrumental Music Competition, a gold award for Guzheng performance at the 4th Liaoning Chinese Instrumental Music Competition. She has been engaged in Guzheng education and teaching for many years, has published professional papers on Guzheng and music education in national journals for many times, and has guided many students to win awards in national or provincial competitions.
