ABOUT

Elena Lin is a renowned choreographer, performer, martial arts practitioner, art therapist, visual artist and instructor. She has developed a highly regarded international reputation for her unique educational programme “House of five elements”, which is designed for contemporary dancers and performing artists. The programme is a unique blend of Chinese martial arts and contemporary dance with a mix of other art disciplines.

Elena Lin was born in 1969. in a small town in the province of Vojvodina, now part of Serbia. She was born into an artistic family; from a very early age, she had already shown a keen interest in performing arts. Her unique talent in dance and singing was first recognised at the age of 9, when Elena got a major role in children’s TV series.

Following the artistic path throughout her education, she graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad, former Yugoslavia, as a painter and sculptor. She also pursued dance education in a number of European countries, including Finland, Holland, Belgium, France and Spain, where she studied classical ballet, contemporary dance, physical theatre, acrobatics, African dance and Indian martial arts. She specialised in Chinese martial arts under the guidance of Sri Lankan Kung Fu master Ravi Chandrasiri.

She was invited in Global Artitst Committee of Asian Art Association in March 2021.

TEACHING

Elena has extensive experience spanning two decades in delivering innovative educational programmes in contemporary dance, both as a visiting and resident choreographer, workshop leader and as a private coach. She has worked in numerous countries and leading establishments, including Royal Academy of ballet (Antwerpen, Belgium), Tanzhouse (Dusseldorf, Germany), Micadanses Dance studio (Paris, France), Marameo contemporary dance training studio (Berlin, Germany), Contemporary dance school (Zimbabve, Africa), Danscentrumsud (Malmö, Sweden), Danshallerne (Copenhagen, Denmark), CDSH – Contemporary Dance School (Hamburg, Germany), Tanzquartier (Vienna, Austria) among many others. Elena has made major contributions to the dance scene, always keeping her focus on incorporating Chinese philosophy and martial arts in contemporary dance, which became her trademark that brought international recognition with institutions she worked in and dancers alike.
