New Hope

Celine Yong Xin Yu, Singapore

Due to the deadly Coronavirus, citizens all over the world are at risk of getting ill and to protect their families and themselves, they shelter at home with fear to go outside. Through this artwork, I wanted to express my hope that the world will get better, by showing the process of vaccination. My artwork is about how getting the vaccines will help us to spend time at places and with people we love and miss without worrying about catching the virus. I decided that for the focus of the artwork would be a butterfly in between the needle of the syringe, to represent hope going into the syringe and into our bodies. Butterflies symbolise hope and change, so I wanted to portray in this artwork that soon our world will be able to restore into a beautiful recovery from the protection of the vaccine from the deadly virus, like the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly. I used pen and acrylic paint for this artwork and the paper I used is A4 size. I believe with the help of the vaccine and cooperation of the citizens all over the world, we will soon be able to live Covid-19 free!
