ABOUT

Born in Shanghai, Sjoukje Yao Wu is a Dutch researcher educated at Leiden University and Columbia University, specialized in international sustainable development cooperation projects. She supervised students for City Change Maker program at Qinghua University, and presented her researches on World Cities Day organized by UN-HABITAT, and on Dresden Nexus Conference organized by UNU. Her PhD research focused on international sustainable development projects and promoting cooperation between government, universities and enterprises on new media platform, with dean of the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research as supervisor. She served as expert reader for Land for Life Award of United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, and assisted the Europe-China Eco Cities Link project, a collaboration project between European Commission and Chinese Ministry of Housing, Rural-Urban Development.

Sjoukje Yao Wu recorded a radio program on migration integration for BBC World Service, was interviewed by Horizon 2020 on technology and innovation, broadcast on European Commission’s site. She worked as director's assistant at International Film Festival Rotterdam, participated at film premiers at Vision de Reel Documentary film festival in Switzerland, and was international producer of documentary film 'A State of Being'. Professor Lei Wen from Shanghai Theatre Academy is the director, and the film received the Best Documentary Award at The Buddha International Film Festival, Sweden Film Award and dozens of other awards at international film festivals.

She was invited in Global Artist Committee of Asian Art Association in Feb 2022.

Awards

Documentary film 'A State of Being' (directed by Pro. Lei Wen of Shanghai Theatre Academy) received the following and dozens of film awards: Best Documentary Award at The Buddha International Film Festival, Sweden Film Awards, Eurasia International Monthly Film Festival, official selection of Lulea International Film Festival, Vesuvius International Film Festival, International Women's Film Festival in Denmark, etc.

2019 Global Development Conference, Germany Paper briefing on sustainable development policy research, conference organized by United Nations University and German Development Institute.

2017 World Cities Day, organized by UN-HABITAT, China Theme: “Innovative Governance, Open Cities”, presented paper on promoting SDGs with new media platform in smart cities.
